DESCRIPTION:The Department of History at Brown University invites applicants for a full-time\, tenure-track position\, at the assistant professor level\, in Southeast Asia. Historically informed research in all subfields\, regions\, and time periods will be considered. The appointment will begin on July 1\, 2024\, or as soon as possible thereafter. Ph.D. or equivalent is required by time of appointment. \nThe department places a high priority on research excellence\, high-quality teaching\, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. Interested candidates should speak to their ability to contribute to each of these three areas in a letter of application. Please also submit a curriculum vitae and writing sample (essay or dissertation/manuscript chapter) via Interfolio. Additional materials\, including three letters of reference\, may be requested after an initial review of the applications. Review of applications will begin October 2\, 2023. To assure full consideration applicants should submit their materials by that date.
