American University in Cairo Summer Course on Islamic Law

Designed specifically for students interested in Islamic law, this program brings together a group of specialists in different areas of the law to explore new ways of thinking about Islamic law. Some important themes of the program include: bridging the divide between theory and practice, the question of modernity, and the role of Islamic law in today’s world. Each content area is covered for one week, with content presented every morning for three hours. Arabic lessons take place in the afternoon, with primary source texts and content-relevant readings, as appropriate to level.
Date: July 14 – August 8, 2019
Tuition and fees are $2,500 (exclusive of airfare and visa). This includes 150 hours of instruction, in addition to accommodation, food, local transportation, lectures and cultural visits.
