Columbia University, Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies Assistant Professor in Islamicate South Asian Studies Institution Type:College / UniversityLocation:New York, United StatesPosition:Assistant ProfessorThe Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies at Columbia University is seeking to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in South Asian studies with specialization in Islamicate cultures. Applications from scholars working in Urdu and a second South Asian language are especially welcome. As a transregional and interdisciplinary department MESAAS seeks applicants capable of bringing their work and interests into conversation with non-specialists both within the department and across the university. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an active research and publication agenda, to teach both broad courses for undergraduates as well as graduate seminars, and to direct MA and PhD theses.
